Welcome to My Midlife Crisis

Not the kind where I suddenly buy a sports car, jump out of a plane, leave my husband and run away to Italy.

Although…

Italy does sound really good.

I'm talking about the quieter kind.

The kind that sneaks up on you somewhere between school drop-offs , answering emails, driving the kiddo to afterschool activities remembering appointments, keeping the house moving, and wondering why you're absolutely exhausted when you haven't technically done anything for yourself all day.

The kind where you suddenly look around at your life and think:

Wait… when did this become my life?

And before you misunderstand me

I love my life.

I love my kid.

I love my husband.

I love the life we've built.

But somewhere along the way, I became really good at being needed.

Mom.

Wife.

Photographer.

Planner.

Problem solver.

The one who remembers.

The one who organizes.

The one who finds things.

The one who makes sure everyone else is okay.

And somewhere in that list,

I lost track of me.

Maybe you can relate.

There's something strange about reaching this stage of motherhood.

They're still your baby, but they're becoming their own person.

They still need you, but differently.

And suddenly there are these little pockets of space where you realize…

I have no idea what to do with myself.

Or maybe the better question is:

Who am I when I'm not taking care of everyone else?

Or even:

What happened to the person I was before I got married and had a child?

Those are the questions I'm sitting with right now.

I'm figuring out what I like again.

What I want.

What I've outgrown.

What I've been putting off.

What parts of myself I want back.

And what parts of me haven't even had the chance to exist yet.

I've spent years behind a camera documenting other people's lives

Looking for the light.

Finding the beauty.

Freezing the moments that matter.

And maybe this is my turn to turn the lens around.

So welcome to The Midlife Edit.

A place for the messy middle.

Motherhood.

Marriage.

Identity.

Friendship.

Aging.

Dreams.

Resentment.

Joy.

Starting over.

Starting something new.

And figuring out what the hell we're supposed to do with the next chapter.

I'm not here because I've figured it out.

I'm here because I haven't.

and maybe midlife isn't a crisis.

Maybe it's an edit.

Maybe we're finally old enough to look at the life we've created and ask:

Does this still feel like me?

Anyways this is me.

No filters.

Just figuring it out as I go.

Welcome to my midlife crisis.

I'm glad you're here. 🤍
