Well the first week of 2013 has come and gone. Thanks so much to everyone who is sharing in the challenge, it is amazing to see everyone’s images from around the world. Here are some of the images you came up with for the first week’s theme of ’52 steps from your front door’
Week 2’s theme is: Leading Lines
Leading lines is a familiar term heard throughout the world of photography. They are used in photography to help create meaningful composition as they are meant to draw the viewers eye through a photograph. Leading lines can also be used to draw your eye to focal point in a photograph.
I came across these leading lines on a walk. I liked the curve of the lines and how they lead you to place unknown or yet to be discovered. This image would have been even stronger if there was a subject that the lines lead to (i.e. a person walking) Em’s photos from week 1’s challenge of fence posts are also a great example of leading lines.
Some tips for this weeks challenge:
~ Leading lines can be straight, diagonal, wavy, or any other creative variation.
~ Anything with a definite line can be a leading line. Fences, bridges, even a shoreline can lead the eye. Fields, roads, or leading lines in a building. This type of composition is often seen in architecture photography so make sure you are looking up when your looking for this weeks motivation.
Feel free to post your image that you shoot this week on my facebook fan page so we can all see and stay tuned for week 3′s challenge which will be announced on January 13th 2013.
