Railtown Cafe

Railtown Cafe, the newest eatery in Vancouver’s developing Railtown Community celebrated it’s Grand Opening on August 8th 2012 showcasing their food and drinks to the media and community.

Located in a refurbished heritage building at 397 Railway Street, the Railtown Cafe is  devoted to sourcing everything locally wherever possible. This approach ranged from using only the freshest produce including the herbs grown onsite in the Patch Lab, but also to their decor, where they have utilized locally sourced reclaimed wood as dining tables.

Open 7am – 3pm, Monday to Friday the Railtown Cafe’s yummy pastry options include donuts, sticky buns, muffins and cookies.

It is the lunch menu that is attracting most of the attention with their sintilating selection of salads and sandwiches.  Railtown Cafe provides home-made salads, soups and sandwiches made with healthy, and delicious sous vide proteins.

Sous vide is a method that strays away from traditional oil and fat and allows true flavors to permeate through proteins by cooking at a low temperature for a long time period. This seals in the flavor of our high quality cuts of protein!

With such delicious looking meats resting under the heat lamps on the front counter, it is certainly hard to resist trying them. The poached salmon nicoise and the tender pork shoulder sandwiches were both standouts and were both simply stunning. They were packed full of flavour, with their selected ingredients each perfectly balanced to complete one hell of a sandwich. Even the breads used such as the foccacia and olive bread are baked fresh on the premises

Overall with their locally sourced products, great variety and healthy cooking Railtown Cafe is sure to be a hit.
