After attending an evening lecture at the Vancouver Photo Workshops on ‘Photographing with an Architectural Attitude’ I was inspired to get out and try some of the concepts I had learned. I had a plan to go to the Marine building and get both interior and exterior shots but sadly the marine building was closed on the weekend so didn’t get to try any interior shots but I am pretty happy with how the exterior turned out. Enjoy!
Considered Canada’s finest example of Art Deco architecture, Vancouver’s Marine Building continues to garner praise for its design.
The exterior features lots of decorative art – mostly flora and fauna – and is tinted a lovely sea-green color with gold highlights. More than 2,100 panes of glass were used for the building’s many windows.
Massive brass doors open to the huge, high-ceilinged Grand Concourse lobby,
Old and new downtown Vancouver
had a chance to get inside of the marine building to capture some interior shots, this by far is my favourite
